چکیده

Enterocytozoon bieneusi and Encephalitozoon spp. are microsporidian pathogens with zoonotic potential that pose significant public health concerns. To ascertain the occurrence genotypes of E. spp., we used nested PCR to amplify internal transcribed spacer (ITS) gene DNA sequencing analyze 198 fecal samples from red pandas 6 zoos in China. The total rate microsporidial infection was 15.7% (31/198), 12.1% (24/198), 1.0% (2/198), 2.0% (4/198) (2/198) for bieneusi, cuniculi, intestinalis hellem, respectively. One panda detected positive a mixed (E. intestinalis). Red living semi-free conditions more likely be infected microsporidia (χ2 = 6.212, df 1, p < 0.05). Three known (SC02, D, PL2) one novel (SCR1) were found. SCR1) grouped into group 1 importance, while genotype PL2 formed separate clade associated 2. These findings suggest may serve as host reservoir microsporidia, potentially allowing transmission humans other animals.

Genetic assessment of captive red panda (Ailurus fulgens) population

Red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is threatened across its range by detrimental human activities and rapid habitat changes necessitating captive breeding programs in various zoos globally to save this flagship species from extinction. One of the ultimate aims of ex situ conservation is reintroduction of endangered animals into their natural habitats while maintaining 90 % of the founder genetic diver...

Dietary changes during weaning shape the gut microbiota of red pandas (Ailurus fulgens)

Mammalian herbivores have developed numerous adaptations to utilize their plant-based diets including a modified gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and symbiosis with a GIT microbiota that plays a major role in digestion and the maintenance of host health. The red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is a herbivorous carnivore that lacks the specialized GIT common to other herbivores but still relies on microorga...

Gastric Dilitation-Volvulus in a Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens)

A 10-year-old male red panda presented acutely with symptoms of shock due to acute abdominal distress and respiratory compromise. Abdominal ultrasound confirmed a severely distended stomach for which passage of an orogastric tube for relief was unsuccessful. Intra-operatively, the stomach was found to be distended and torsed around its long axis supporting the diagnosis of Gastric dilitation-vo...

Brominated flame retardants, polychlorinated biphenyls, and organochlorine pesticides in captive giant panda (ailuropoda melanoleuca) and red panda (Ailurus fulgens) from China.

Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) were investigated in captive giant and red panda tissues from China. The total concentrations of OCPs, PCBs, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in tissues ranged from 16.3 to 888 ng/g lipid weight (lw), 24.8 to 854 ng/g lw, and 16.4 to 2158 ng/g lw, respectively. p,p'-DDE and beta-...
